Getting to the hotel

Although it's not very far as the crow flies, the mountainous terrain makes the journey from Padang to Hotel Rimbo a three and a half hour drive. However, it's a delightful and relaxing journey - a tour in itself. The hotel provides a snack meal for the journey; when making your booking you'll be asked for your choice of sandwiches, fruit and drink.

You'll see waterfalls and mountain rivers, rice fields and rainforest, on the drive to Hotel Rimbo - and if you're lucky, monkeys as well. There'll be plenty of photo opportunities on the drive, and you'll be crossing the equator on the way. The temperature drops sharply as you approach the hotel, which is at quite a high altitude.

Making your own way to the hotel

For those who prefer to make their own travel arrangements, get off the bus at the Pasar Benteng bus terminal in Lubuk Sikaping. From here it's a half hour walk to the hotel, or a ten minute vehicle drive. Here's a sketch-map to show you the way:
